Update 12 August 2020 - Crews worked through the night to complete repair

Irish Water and Cork County Council have repaired a significant burst in a watermain serving Fota Island and Great Island, including the town of Cobh. Crews worked through the night on this repair and it was completed in the early hours this morning. Water is now returning to all customers impacted and should have returned fully in the next 2 to 3 hours. The repair and return of water supply to the network and all customers is being closlely monitored at this time. We will continue to inform the public if there are any further updates.

Neil Smyth, Irish Water Operations Lead "Our crews worked through the night to safely repair the significant section of watermain and whilst there was some interruption in Belvelly and to some other properties in the area, the majority of people supplied by this watermain were unaffected. We would like to thank all of those involved in completing this difficult repair."

Irish Water understands the inconvenience when a burst occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we worked to repair the burst and restore normal supply to impacted customers.

Irish Water is working at this time, with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services. Irish Water would like to remind people to follow the HSE COVID-19 advice and ensure frequent handwashing.
