Water tankers will remain in place until full service is restored

Update 11:00pm Sunday, 3 September 2017 - Repairs are ongoing to a pump that failed at the Listowel Regional Water Treatment Plant. Due to the pump failure customers are without water in Listowel, Tarbet, Moyvane, Knockanure, Lisselton, Finuge, Lixnaw and surrounding areas. Irish Water and Kerry County Council are working to ensure the pump is repaired as soon as possible.

During Sunday, one of the failed pumps was rebuilt by EPS Group who are pumping specialists based in Mallow, incorporating a number of spare parts sourced and modified to suit the pump unit. This was been brought to site this evening and installation work is now underway, with the specialist team working with the County Council operations crews, and with Engineers from Irish Water and  Kerry County Council in attendance.

Exact timing on restoration of a full supply depends on progress of repair work and a further update will be provided as soon as it is available.  In the meantime emergency water supplies will continue to be provided in the affected areas. Irish Water and Kerry County Council thank the Civil Defence for all their assistance as they continue to distribute bottled water to vulnerable customers and assist with the distribution of information leaflets to homes and businesses.

Alternative water supplies have also been diverted to the local hospital, nursing homes and where possible to other businesses in the area
