Project will provide a modern sewerge scheme for Falcarragh

We are holding an information evening at Ionad Acmhainne, Baila an Athá, Ballina Estate, Falcarragh, on Monday, October 1 from 5.30-7.30pm to present plans for the Falcarragh Sewerage Scheme.

Developing a new wastewater treatment plant

We are working to end the unacceptable practice of discharging poorly treated wastewater into Ballyness Bay by developing a new wastewater treatment plant as part of the Falcarragh Sewerage Scheme. The existing sewerage works were originally constructed in 1959 and consist of primary treatment only which is currently overloaded. This project will provide a modern sewerage scheme for Falcarragh.

The public are invited to attend the information evening to meet the project team and learn more about Irish Water’s plans to progress this important project.

Improve health, environment and water quality

The practice of discharging poorly treated wastewater to Ballyness Bay is unsustainable. The new wastewater treatment plant will bring benefits to Falcarragh in terms of health, integrity of the environment and improved water quality for all. Cleaner water will enhance Falcarragh’s amenity value and act as a platform for social and economic development. The new pipes, pumping station and wastewater treatment plant have all been sized to accommodate an increase in the local population and will facilitate future growth in the area. The project will also ensure that the water quality standards set down by regulatory bodies will be achieved.

Anyone interested in receiving further information or in asking questions about this project are invited to attend the information evening.
