Progress with watermain improvement works to safeguard the water supply in Ashbourne
Watermain improvement works part of project to replace the problematic trunk water main in Ashbourne
Irish Water, working in partnership with Meath County Council, is progressing with two new connections to the existing watermain which feeds all of Ashbourne town in order to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in the area. These watermain improvement works are being undertaken as part of a project to replace the problematic trunk water main in Ashbourne.
Disruptions to water supply
These works may cause disruption to the water supply on Monday 6 July until 7:00am Tuesday 7 July and from 10:00pm on Wednesday 8 July until 7:00am Thursday 9 July. Irish Water wish to advise customers in Ashbourne town that they may experience lower than normal water pressure and/or outages while these essential works are carried out. Following these improvement works water supply may take 2-3 hours to return as water refills the network.
Speaking about the project, Liam Henry, Irish Water said “We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and will ensure our work crews make every effort to minimise any disruption these works may cause. We would like to thank the local community, businesses, homeowners and commuters for their patience and cooperation while we deliver this vital water network improvement project safeguarding the water supply for homes and businesses in Ashbourne town.”
Irish Water is working at this time, with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services. Irish Water would like to remind people to follow the HSE COVID-19 advice and ensure frequent handwashing.
Irish Water is working proactively with our delivery partners and as part of a multi-agency working group to ensure that our construction works are carried out in a controlled and safe manner, in keeping with Government and HSE guidelines to protect workers, their families and the broader community.
