Power outage may cause loss of water supply to Lough Eglish customers
10,000 Lough Egish customers could be affected due to Storm Ali
Irish Water, working in partnership with Monaghan County Council, would like to inform customers supplied by the Lough Egish water supply that due to a power outage caused by Storm Ali approximately 10,000 customers may be without a water supply.
Customers may suffer temporary loss of water supply
The ESB restored power to the treatment plant last night but power has yet to be restored to the pumps at the lake. Irish Water is working with ESB to carry out this work and depending on when it is complete, customers may suffer some temporary loss of water supply.
There are three reservoirs on the scheme and flows are currently being controlled to ensure a water supply is maintained for customers. However, there are only enough reserves to keep this going until lunchtime.

Irish Water would like to thank the ESB for their efforts and thank customers for their patience during these difficult conditions. A further update will be issued later today.
Customers who are experiencing any issues with their water supply can contact the Irish Water customer care helpline on 1850 278 278.
