Power outage which occurred as a result of Storm Ali

Irish Water and Fingal County Council are working with the ESB to restore power to the Cottrelstown Pumping station that supplies water to Garristown reservoir as soon as possible.

ESB is prioritizing restoring power to the water supply infrastructure

The power outage which occurred as a result of Storm Ali has stopped water from being pumped to the reservoir. The supply to Garristown and Ballymadun and surrounding areas is currently solely dependent on storage in the reservoir which has now depleted.

We can confirm that ESB is prioritizing restoring power to the water supply infrastructure. Alternative Water Supply is being provided and will be available at the following locations:

  • 2 x Outside Garristown School R130

  • 1 x Outside Daybreak service station- Garristown

Boil water before use

Irish Water makes every effort to ensure that the alternative drinking water supply provided, including the tanker/bowser and dispensing tap, are adequately disinfected. However, as it is not practical to provide sterilised containers for the public to transport drinking water from the tanker to their homes, we cannot guarantee that any containers used by the public do not negatively impact or contaminate the drinking water. Therefore people are advised to boil this water before use.

Please continue to conserve water

Irish Water is encouraging customers to conserve water so as not to deplete our reservoirs while power is being restored. We are urging customers to conserve water by not running taps, taking showers instead of baths and to refrain from using dishwashers and washing machines.
