Planned water outages will take place from 8pm until 6am on Thursday, 7 June for parts of Athlone and surrounding areas
Essential maintenance work at Athlone Water Treatment Plant
Irish Water wishes to advise customers in Athlone and the surrounding areas that due to essential maintenance work that is being carried out at the Athlone Water Treatment Plant, there are planned water outages from 8pm until 6am on Thursday, 7 June 2018. This will impact customers in Athlone Town, Baylin, Mount Temple, The Ories, Garrycastle, Dublin Road, Ardnaglug, Fardrum, Moydrum, Blyry, Killyon Hill, Bonavalley, Athlone and surrounds in Co. Westmeath.
This nighttime restriction is being put in place to ensure customers have a water supply to their homes and businesses during the daytime. This action is being taken to ensure that there is an adequate quantity of water available to supply industries, schools, residences and commercial activities during business hours.
Supply will restore to customers as the network refills
The water supply will restore to customers as the network refills. It can take a number of hours for the water to restore to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network once the water supply is turned back on.
Please conserve water as much as possible
We are asking customers to conserve water for the foreseeable future due to increased demand and reducing water levels in the Annagh Reservoir. The current dry spell and increased seasonal demand are contributing to the reduced available supply of treated drinking water. In an effort to minimise potential interruptions, customers are being asked to conserve water by refraining from watering gardens, washing cars, using power hoses and minimising their use generally.
Every small effort to save water will contribute to maintaining supplies and benefit your entire community by reducing the likelihood of water restrictions.
Please report any leaks on the public network
To help conserve water customers are being asked to report any leaks they see on the public network and to repair any private side leaks in their homes and businesses to help restore water levels in the network. Customers can report any public side leaks via our Report a Leak form or by calling the customer care helpline 24/7 on 1850 278 278.
Updates will also be posted to the Water Supply Updates section.
