Operational issues at Stooke Water Treatment Plant may impact supply to some customers

28 April 2023

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Due to operational issues at the Stooke Water Treatment Plant serving the Dundrum Regional Scheme, the capacity of the water treatment plant has reduced. Uisce Éireann is working with Tipperary County Council to restore the full treatment capacity as quickly as possible. Supply is also been supplemented from other water supply schemes. Whilst every effort is being made to maintain supply customers may experience temporary, intermittent low pressure and/or water outages particularly at higher elevations of the network at Killough, Clonoulty, Boherlahan, Boherlahan to Cashel Road and surrounding areas.

Colin Cunningham, Uisce Éireann, commented: “The operational issues at the plant has impacted the amount of water we would normally supply. We are supplementing the supply from other schemes, however at times of higher demands some customers at higher elevations may experience reduced pressure/intermittent supply."

Colin added: “We continue to work on the plant to rectify the operational issues, however we are appealing to customers to conserve water, to be mindful of their water usage as a small reduction by everyone can collectively make a major difference to supply. We understand the inconvenience an outage can have on customers, and we appreciate your patience as we work to return normal water production as quickly as possible.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience when an outage occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to restore normal supply to impacted customers.
