Normal water supply restored at Ballyferriter Water Treatment Plant
Repairs have been carried out at Ballyferriter Water Treatment Plant following the failure of a chlorine pump at the plant.
Chlorine is used as part of the water treatment process to disinfect water and safeguard water supplies.
As a result of this mechanical issue, some customers in the area may have noticed an unusual taste or smell from the water.
The issue has now been resolved and normal water supply has been restored. However if any customers continue to notice an unusual taste or smell from their water, they are advised to run the tap for a short time to clear it.
If the water continues to have a strong taste or smell of chlorine or if they have any concerns, they should contact the Irish Water customer care line at 1850 278 278.
Irish Water apologises for any inconvenience as a result of this unplanned issue.
Irish Water is working at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.
