Night-time outage in Navan Town due to essential works to secure the water supply

21 January 2021

Uisce Éireann and Meath County Council wish to advise customers in Navan Town that an essential night-time water outage is required in order to facilitate emergency works on the Navan trunk water main. These essential works will be carried out in accordance with Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions and will provide a safer more secure water supply for the town minimising the frequency of bursts improving the resilience of the network. It will also support continued social and economic development of Navan Town.

While works are ongoing customers in Navan Town may experience low water pressure and/or outages from 10:00pm tonight, Thursday 21 January until 2:00am tomorrow, Friday 22 January. It may take 2-3 hours for normal water supply to return to all customers but it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand-washing.

While handwashing remains a priority, simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on this supply. Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth and shaving can save up to 6 litres of water per minute. Taking a shower instead of a bath or using a watering can rather than a hose when gardening can also make a big difference in water use.
