New project in Kinsale to provide a more reliable and secure water supply for the local community
Part of national Leakage Reduction Programme
Irish Water, in partnership with Cork County Council, is working to provide a more secure, reliable water supply in the community of Kinsale. The project to install over 400 metres of water mains is being carried out as part of Irish Water’s Leakage Reduction Programme. This will see €500m invested nationally over the next four years to tackle problematic pipes and leakage in Ireland’s ageing water network.
Installing this new water main will ensure a safe supply of water to St Multose School and the local community centre, reducing the risk of contamination and providing a safer overall drinking water supply.
Steven Blennerhassett, Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead, commented “This project is essential in providing a safe, secure and reliable water supply for this area of Kinsale now and into the future. We would like to thank the community for their patience and support while this work is being carried out and assure them that we will work with our contractors to keep any disruption or inconvenience to a minimum.”
