Update 3.30pm, 5 Decemeber 2019 - Progress on pump repair works

Irish water would like to advise that following the mechanical breakdown of pumps at Ringsend wastewater treatment plant yesterday, there was a temporary risk of overflows from the storm water tank while repairs were underway. 

Progress has been made on site and one of the damaged pumps has now been repaired and is operating as normal. Repairs are continuing on the second pump and it is expected that this pump will be operational in the coming days. 

The successful repair of one of the pumps substantially reduces the risk of overflows. Crews will remain on site carrying out essential repairs to the second pump in order to allow the plant to return to its full treatment capacity in the coming days.

Irish Water have notified the Environmental Protection Agency Dublin City Council and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council of this incident. 

Update 5 Decemeber 2019 - Repair works continuing at Ringsend

Irish water would like to advise that following a mechanical breakdown of pumps at Ringsend wastewater treatment plant, a risk of overflows from the storm water tank remains while repairs are underway. Crews are on site and are working to carry out these essential repairs to the pumps as quickly as possible in order to allow the plant to return to its full treatment capacity.

Repair works are progressing well and one of the damaged pumps is scheduled to be operating again within the next 24 hours. This will reduce the risk of overflows from the storm water tank occurring as a result of the mechanical breakdown. Irish Water have notified the Environmental Protection Agency Dublin City Council and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council of this incident. 

Low level incident at Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant

Irish water would like to advise that due to a mechanical breakdown of pumps at Ringsend wastewater treatment plant there is an increased risk of stormwater overflows occurring over the coming days while repairs are underway.

Crews are on site working to carry out essential repairs to the pumps as quickly as possible in order to allow the plant to return to its full treatment capacity. 

Irish Water have notified the Environmental Protection Agency, Dublin City Council and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council of this incident.
