Leakage reduction works may cause supply disruptions in Cork City

Uisce Éireann are due to commence leakage reduction works in the Rathmore Park and Richmond Hill areas of Cork city on 1 December which may result in low pressure or a supply outage for certain homes and businesses.

Uisce Éireann and Cork City Council, wishes to advise customers in Rathmore Road, Rathmore Park, Rathmore Terrace, Roche’s Buildings, Goldsmith’s Avenue, Sarsfield Terrace, Audley Square, Lansdowne Court, Old Youghal Road and Richmond Hill, that their water supply may be impacted as a result.

During these essential works, homes and businesses in the above areas may be impacted by reduced water pressure and water outages. Following the completion of improvement works, water supply may take two-three hours to return as water refills the network. Work crews will endeavour to complete works ahead of time to expedite the return of supply to the affected areas. 

To facilitate the works, there will be a traffic management system in place on Rathmore Park Road. Uisce Éireann understands this type of work can be inconvenient and will ensure our work crews make every effort to minimise any disruption these works may cause.

The works are being carried out as part of the ‘The Find & Fix Scheme’ which is part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction plan. It involves leak detection experts using underground sound equipment in public areas to locate and repair leaks.

Since 2018, Uisce Éireann has invested over €500 million to upgrade the underground water network across the country through the delivery of the Leakage Reduction Programme. We are investing a further €250 million every year up to the end of 2030 - fixing leaks and replacing pipes to provide a more reliable water supply.
