Update on water conservation on Inis Oirr and Inis Meáin during power Outage
Irish Water can confirm that a generator was delivered to Inis Meáin on Saturday morning following a major power outage on both Inis Meáin and Inis Oirr.
The generator was connected and the plant resumed normal treatment operations. The water storage reservoir was filled manually to ensure adequate supply was maintained, and will continue to be monitored and filled manually for the duration of the power outage.
Prior to the outage Irish Water had a generator installed at the Inis Oirr water treatment plant and it is working to keep the treatment plant operational.
Irish Water and Galway County Council would like to thank the ferry operator for ensuring the speedy and safe delivery of the generator to Inish Meáin. We would also like to thank Coffey Water Ltd for their assistance and the local businesses and general public who continue to conserve water during this difficult time.
Night time water restrictions will remain in place until further notice.
Irish Water and Galway County Council are working hard to ensure there is as little disruption as possible to the water supply.
Irish Water would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank the public in advance for their co-operation.
