Works to repair burst watermain in Cornamagh
Irish Water is working in partnership with Westmeath County Council to repair a burst watermain in Cornamagh, Athlone. The burst occurred on the water main that carries water from Athlone water treatment plant to Annagh Reservoir.
Who is affected?
Customers in the following areas may experience disruption to their water supply while the repair is underway; Athlone Town, Baylin, Mount Temple, The Ories, Garrycastle, Dublin Road, Ardnaglug, Fardrum, Moydrum, Blyry, Killyon Hill, Bonavalley, Ballymahon road, Ballykeeran, Glasson and surrounding areas.
What is involved?
Crews are on site working to repair the burst as quickly and as safely as possible to safeguard the water supply for homes and businesses in Athlone and surrounding areas. Irish Water estimate that the repair will be completed early afternoon however it may take a couple of hours for normal water supply to return to all customers. Traffic management will be in place at the burst location for the duration of these works.
Irish Water understands the inconvenience when a burst occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to repair the burst and restore normal supply to impacted customers. Irish Water and Westmeath County Council regret any inconvenience caused.
