Irish Water working in partnership with Mayo County Council have agreed a plan to resolve the ongoing problem of regular bursts to a water main in Bohernasup, Ballina.
Since the beginning of February 2017, 167 metres of defective water main have been replaced and it is intended that a further 380m will be replaced by Mayo County Council’s operational team commencing in early May. This will resolve issues with the most problematic section of water main.
The remaining pipeline will be replaced by a contractor and contract documents will be prepared with a view to tendering later in the year.
Irish Water would like to apologise to consumers who have been adversely affected by disruption to their water supply as a result of these bursts.
Irish Water would also like to thank the local politicians for their continued support while the utility and Mayo County Council worked to identify the solution.
Irish Water would like to acknowledge the mains repair work that has been carried out by the local authority on their behalf in the Bohernasup and wider Ballina area.
