Irish Water advises water restrictions required in Athlone tonight
Water restrictions required in Athlone tonight, Thursday September 19th
Irish Water advises that water restrictions are required tonight, Thursday, 19th September in Athlone to allow water levels in the Annagh reservoir to continue to recover.
Irish Water and Westmeath County Council wish to advise customers in Athlone and the surrounding areas that an overnight water restriction is necessary, in order to allow water levels to continue to recover in the Annagh Reservoir following recent works. In order to allow for the continued recovery of the water supply, a water restriction will be in place from 10pm tonight, Thursday, 19th September, until 6am tomorrow morning, Friday, 20th September, which will impact customers in Athlone Town, Baylin, Mount Temple, The Ories, Garrycastle, Dublin Road, Ardnaglug, Fardrum, Moydrum, Blyry, Killyon Hill, Bonavalley, Athlone and surrounds in Co. Westmeath.
This necessary night-time restriction is being put in place to ensure customers have a water supply to their homes and businesses during the daytime. This action is being taken to ensure that there is an adequate quantity of water available to supply industries, schools, residences and commercial activities during business hours.
The water supply will restore to customers as the network refills. It can take a number of hours for the water to restore to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network once the water supply is turned back on. We expect that supply will return to customers between 6 am and 8am as the water returns to the network.
