Essential works at Barnageeragh Wastewater Treatment Plant may cause potential odours
Irish Water would like to advise that essential works are underway at Barnageeragh wastewater treatment plant. The works involve the installation of equipment to minimise the risk of odours from the plant in the longer term. During the works, the tanks on site are being drained and cleaned, and the new equipment installed. The overall works represent a significant investment by Irish Water and will be carried out on a phased basis.
We have already completed the installation of air diffusers in 2 tanks to significantly increase aeration in these tanks. Diffusers are being installed in a third tank at the moment and works will be carried out on the final tank in the coming months also. While the works are underway there is a risk of intermittent odours from the plant. Specialist equipment will be used to minimise the risk of odour generation. Irish Water apologises for any inconvenience caused by these works.
We will make every effort to minimise the risk of odours and to complete these works as quickly as possible. Irish Water would like to apologise for any odours that arise while the work is being carried out.
If odour issues are noted, please contact the our Customer Care Centre on 1850 278 278.
