Investigation continues to cause of overflow incident from a pump station in Kinsale
Irish Water continues to investigate the cause over an overflow incident that occurred in Kinsale yesterday afternoon. The pump station is located at Denis Quay in Kinsale town. Investigations were carried out as soon as the incident was reported and the pump has been operating effectively since. Following the overflow incident, Cork County Council have placed a notice with advice not to swim at the Dock Beach area in Kinsale and this will remain in place until further notice.
Technicians working on behalf of Irish Water are working to diagnose what caused the overflow, so as to prevent a similar incident occurring again.
We wish to apologise to those impacted by this incident and will continue to provide updates to the public as our work progresses.
