Inis Meáin water treatment plant back in production

Irish Water would like to advise customers on Inis Meáin that the water treatment plant is back in production following a power outage on the island due to storm conditions. The plant has restarted and treated water leaving the plant is fully compliant and safe for consumption.

The reservoir is currently refilling and it is estimated that customers should receive a normal water supply after 4pm today. It may take houses in higher lying areas a further two to three hours to receive a full supply.

Irish Water and Galway County Council would like to thank customers for implementing conservations measures during this power outage.

Tim O’Connor, Irish Water said “We would like to thank ESB Networks for prioritising power restoration works on Inis Meáin. We would also like to thank our customers for their patience and cooperation while these works were being carried out.

“The water treatment plant is now fully operational and customers should receive a normal supply of water by this evening or tonight at the latest. Any customer who continues to experience a water outage later tonight should report it to the Irish Water customer care helpline on 1850 278 278.”
