Faha water supply to be restricted overnight due to supply issues
Irish Water working in partnership with Waterford County Council would like to advise customers supplied by the Faha Water Supply Scheme that their supply will be restricted from 11:30pm tonight due to supply issues.
There have been water availability issues with the borehole supply for Faha WSS in Co. Waterford in recent days. Works have been carried out which will improve the supply, however, there still isn’t enough water available to meet full demand. Customers do have supply back but at a reduced pressure.
To help the borehole recovery and ensure a water supply is available during the daytime hours, night time restrictions will be imposed tonight from 11.30pm – 7.30am and will likely continue over the coming days.
Colin Cunningham, Irish Water commented: “We will be continuing to monitor the situation with the Faha scheme over the coming days. Irish Water and Waterford Co Co are aware of the public health messaging about frequent handwashing and the need for good hygiene practises and we are trying to manage the water supplies in Faha to maintain supply to all of our customers in the area”.
Customers should have up to 24 hours’ storage of treated water in their attics and they are urged to continue to follow the HSE Covid-19 guidance on hand-washing. Irish Water and Waterford County Council understands the inconvenience caused when water outages occur and thanks customers for their patience while we monitor the situation and wait for the raw water to return to a level that can be treated by the processes that are in place at the treatment plant.
Irish Water continues to work at this time with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.
