Essential works may result in supply disruptions in Malahide

24 August 2021

Uisce Éireann is working in partnership with Fingal County Council to safeguard the water supply for homes and businesses in Malahide. Essential works are scheduled to take place on Thursday 26 August in order to facilitate connection works to the water mains. These works are being delivered in adherence with current HSE and government COVID-19 advice.

Works that were previously scheduled to take place on Tuesday 24 August and Wednesday 25 August between 11:00am and 3:00pm daily will now be delivered on Thursday 26 August between 11:00am and 3:00pm.

During this time customers in Wyngate, Church Road and surrounding areas will experience water outages and/or lower than normal water pressure.

Uisce Éireann is encouraging customers to conserve water while these essential works are underway. There are ways to conserve water that will not impact on hygiene or handwashing. Simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on the supply such as not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. There are lots more tips on how to conserve water in your home on the Water Conservation section of our website.

When works are complete it will take up to 3 hours for normal water supply to return to all customers as water refills the network but it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand-washing.

Speaking about the works, Dave Murphy, Uisce Éireann said, “We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and working in partnership with Fingal County Council we will make every effort to minimise any disruption that these necessary works may cause. The delivery of these works is essential to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in Malahide and surrounding areas ensuring a safer more sustainable water supply into the future.

Uisce Éireann continues to work at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.

The latest updates on these works will be available on the Supply and Service Updates section of our website. Our customer care helpline is open 24/7 and customers can call us on 1800 278 278. Customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries.
