Essential works due to take place in Tír an Fhia, Leitir Móir

24 January 2022

Uisce Éireann is working in partnership with Galway County Council to safeguard the water supply for homes and businesses in the Tír an Fhia water supply area. Essential works to facilitate the replacement of the ultra-violet (UV) disinfection system at Tír an Fhia Water Treatment Plant are scheduled to take place tomorrow, 25 January from 9am until 6pm.

While works are underway, customers may experience temporary, intermittent low pressure and/or water outages as flows and pressure is restored to the network. Our work crews will make every effort to minimise the impact on customers and will endeavour to complete these works as quickly and as safely as possible. Typically, it takes two to three hours following restoration time for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas but it is important to continue to follow HSE guidance on hand-washing.

Ronan Daly, Uisce Éireann, commented: “Uisce Éireann would like to thank the local community for their patience and cooperation while we carry out these essential works to replace the ultra-violet (UV) disinfection system, which is necessary to safeguard the water supply for Tír an Fhia. Uisce Éireann understands this type of work can be inconvenient and we will ensure our work crews make every effort to minimise any disruption these essential works may cause.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
