Essential water treatment plant works in Tír an Fhia may cause outages for customers over coming days

08 January 2021

Uisce Éireann and Galway County Council wish to advise customers supplied by the Tír an Fhía water supply that we are working on resolving the issues with the treatment process and there will be further short term outages over the coming days.

Process Optimisation Specialists are on site at Tír an Fhía Water Treatment Plant investigating solutions to the issues in accordance with current Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions.

Uisce Éireann’s Asset Operations Lead for Galway, Tim O’Connor explains: “Technical staff are working at the Tír an Fhía Water Treatment Plant to investigate solutions to the ongoing issues being intensified by the cold snap which are resulting in short term shut downs at the plant. Regrettably there will be water supply outages in parts of Tír an Fhía and Leitir Mór for short periods in the coming days. Uisce Éireann will be tankering water to the Water Treatment Plant from next Monday to maintain supply during the daytime period, to allow for process changes to be made .

Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience when an outage occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we continue to investigate these issues. Uisce Éireann and Galway County Council regrets any inconvenience caused. Our customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries.
