Irish Water and Westmeath County Council are continuing work to repair a burst water main impacting customers in Garnafailagh, Athlone
Restriction due to a burst watermain in the area
Irish Water, working in partnership with Westmeath County Council, is continuing work to repair a burst water main that has impacted the reservoir feeding Athlone over the past number of weeks. In order to minimize the impact and avoid widespread water outages the burst has been isolated. While the repair is ongoing 75 properties will be impacted by a water outage until approximately 6am tomorrow morning, Wednesday 19 December. The area impacted is the Garnafailagh area of Athlone town.
Alternative water supply at Cornamagh Pitch & Putt Club
An alternative water supply has been made available at Cornamagh Pitch & Putt Club.
Customers are advised to bring their own containers to avail of the water and are advised that water must be boiled before consumption as a precaution. Crews are on site and are working to repair the burst safely and as quickly as possible.
We understand the inconvenience when a burst occurs and thank customers for their patience while we work to identify the burst location, repair the burst and restore supply to impacted customers.
