Essential repair works taking place in Sutton

17 May 2023

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Fingal County Council, wishes to advise customers in Sutton that essential repair works will be carried out on the local water mains tomorrow, Thursday, 18 May, from 10am until 4pm. This is to ensure the continued delivery of clean, safe drinking water to homes and businesses.

While works are underway, customers in the following areas will experience temporary, intermittent disruption to their water supply: Dublin Road, Howth Road, Station Road, Offington Estate, Carrickbrack Road, Glencarrig Estate, Strand Road, Sheilmartin (Road, Drive, Crescent), St. Fintan’s (Road, Park, Crescent), Carrickbrack (Heath, Lawn, Hill), Old Castle Avenue, Duncarraig Estate, and surrounding areas in Sutton.

Following these essential repairs, it typically takes 2 to 3 hours for supply to return as water refills the network. Crews will make every effort to complete the works as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to homes and businesses.

As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes. Uisce Éireann advises customers to familiarise themselves with their storage capacity.

Tselo Tlou, Uisce Éireann, explained: “Uisce Éireann is committed to enabling communities across Dublin to thrive by continuously upgrading our critical infrastructure to support sustainable growth and development. These maintenance and repair works on the local mains are essential to continue to provide homes and businesses in Sutton with a clean, safe drinking water supply."

Tselo continued: “We understand that this type of work may be disruptive to the local community which is why our experienced water services crews will ensure to complete the works and restore normal water supply as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Following this type of work, occasionally issues such as cloudy water (air bubbles), discolouration or internal airlocks may arise.
