Essential night-time works due to take place in Ashbourne

Uisce Éireann is working in partnership with Meath County Council to safeguard the water supply for homes and businesses in Ashbourne. Essential works are scheduled to take place on Thursday, 24 June in order to support connection works for the new water mains. These works are being delivered in adherence with current HSE and government COVID-19 advice.

These works will be delivered between 10:00pm on Thursday, 24 June and 2:00am on Friday, 25, June.

During this time customers in the following locations may experience water outages and/or lower than normal water pressure; Slane Road, Tudor Grove, Milltown Road, Milltown, Ashbourne and surrounding areas.

Uisce Éireann is encouraging customers to conserve water while these essential repairs are underway. There are ways to conserve water that will not impact on hygiene or handwashing. Simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on the supply such as not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible.

When works are complete it will take up to 3 hours for normal water supply to return to all customers but it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand-washing.

Speaking about the works, Liam Henry, Uisce Éireann said, “We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and working in partnership with Meath County Council we will make every effort to minimise any disruption that these necessary works may cause. The delivery of this work is an essential to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in Ashbourne and the surrounding areas ensuring a safer more sustainable water supply into the future.

Uisce Éireann continues to work at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.

The latest updates on these works will be available on the Supply and Service Updates section of our website. The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 and customers can call us on 1800 278 278. Customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries.
