Emergency works taking place to remove suspected concrete blockage from sewer on Castleforbes Road

04 November 2020

Uisce Éireann in partnership with Dublin City Council is carrying out emergency works on the sewer in Castleforbes Road in Dublin 1. Uisce Éireann can confirm that its preliminary investigations indicate that there is a significant blockage in the sewer at this location.

An assessment of the sewer has been carried out and cctv footage suggests that a considerable volume of concrete is causing the blockage in the sewer. The exact nature of the blockage should become apparent once the emergency works start.

To facilitate the removal of the blockage, a temporary emergency road closure will be in place on Castleforbes Road, from North Wall Quay to Mayor Street Upper. The emergency road closure is in place since yesterday, Tuesday 3 November 2020 for a number of weeks. Emergency access will be maintained as will access to the car park on Castleforbes Road.

Uisce Éireann and Dublin City Council regrets any disruption or inconvenience these essential works may cause.

Throughout the Covid-19 global pandemic Uisce Éireann is continuing to work with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services.
