Do Not Consume Notice lifted for all customers supplied by the Kiltegan Water Supply Scheme
News follows consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE)
Following consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), Irish Water, working in partnership with Wicklow County Council, is pleased to confirm that a Do Not Consume Notice for all customers on the Kiltegan Water Supply Scheme due to elevated levels of nitrate in the water supply has now been lifted.
New nitrate treatment system at the Plant
Irish Water Drinking Water Compliance, operational experts and Asset Delivery teams worked with colleagues in Wicklow County Council to resolve this situation as soon as possible. Following the installation of a new nitrate treatment system at the Kiltegan Water Treatment Plant, testing has confirmed that the water supply is now compliant with drinking water regulations, and normal use of the water supply for drinking, food preparation, and brushing teeth can resume.
John O’Donoghue, Regional Operations Manager
“Irish Water is aware of the impact and inconvenience caused by this Do Not Consume Notice to homes and businesses in the Kiltegan area. We wish to thank the community in Kiltegan for their patience and cooperation while this issue was resolved. Irish Water’s priority is the provision of safe, clean drinking water and safeguarding the water supply for the future is a vital focus.”
