Disruptions on South Leitrim Water Supply Scheme due to issues at Carrick-On-Shannon Water Treatment Plant
Fault at plant earlier this evening has led to depleted reservoirs
Irish Water and Leitrim County Council wish to advise customers in of disruptions to supply on the South Leitrim Water Supply Scheme due to issues at Carrick-On-Shannon Water Treatment Plant.
A fault at the plant earlier this evening has led to depleted reservoirs and as a result there will be restrictions in place for the next 12 to 24hrs on the South Leitrim Water Supply Scheme. Areas affected are Drumshanbo, Keshcarrigan, Ballinamore, Carrigallen and Mohill. Group Water Schemes within this area are also affected. Customers will experience a loss of water and others a loss of pressure or both. Irish Water and Leitrim Co Co are working proactively to keep the restriction to a minimum and it is expected a full services will be returned within 24hrs.
Please conserve water
Irish Water urges customers to conserve water during this time. Customers can save water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and postponing using dishwashers and washing machines where possible.
While the issue has been rectified and we will be monitoring it throughout the night, it will take a number of hours for water supply to return to normal.
