Water supply returning to normal for impacted customers supplied by Ballycoog Water Treatment Plant in Wicklow
Irish Water and Wicklow County Council wish to advise customers supplied by Ballycoog Water Treatment Plant that the issue affecting the quality of the raw water entering the plant has been resolved and the plant has resumed operations. It may take 2-3 hours for normal water supply to return to all customers as the network refills but it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand-washing.
The plant was shut down due to a deterioration in the raw water quality entering the plant from the borehole, causing outages for local customers. Experts at the plant worked through the night to improve the quality of the borehole and restore the water supply as quickly and as safely as possible, in line with HSE guidance on COVID-19.
Irish Water understands the inconvenience when an outage and low pressure occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we worked to bring the plant back online. Irish Water and Wicklow County Council regrets any inconvenience caused.
Irish Water continues to work at this time with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services.
