Customers in the Laurencetown, Kiltormer and Eyrecourt areas of Co. Galway asked to conserve water
Critically low water levels in the Sheepwalk Reservoir
Irish Water, working in partnership with Galway County Council, is appealing to customers in the Laurencetown, Kiltormer and Eyrecourt areas of Co Galway to conserve water due to critically low levels of water in the Sheepwalk Reservoir. Repair works to a mechanical fault at the Ballinasloe Water Treatment Plant are complete but water levels are still recovering in the Sheepwalk Reservoir.
Conserving water at home
Customers are urged to have to choose a shower rather than bath at this time, to turn off the tap while brushing teeth or shaving, to only run dishwashers or washing machines if absolutely necessary while water levels in the reservoir recover.
Customers are also advised to place a basin in the sink while washing dishes and to not let the tap run.
A full water supply is expected to return once the reservoir refills by tonight.
