Crews onsite working to repair burst as quickly and as safely as possible

Irish Water is carrying out repairs on a burst water main at Leixlip Water Treatment Plant and is working with Fingal, Dublin City and Kildare County Councils to ensure continuity of supply to homes and businesses in the area while the repairs are underway. The repair is complex given the depth of the pipe and difficult ground conditions. Crews are currently onsite working to repair the burst water main as quickly and as safely as possible.

Customers asked to conserve

While water supply is being maintained to all customers through network changes and the use of storage in our reservoirs, we are asking customers in Leixlip to conserve water where possible. As handwashing remains a priority, simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on this supply. Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth and shaving can save up to 6 litres of water per minute. Taking a shower instead of a bath or using a watering can rather than a hose when gardening can also make a big difference in water use. For more tips on how to conserve water in your home, visit our Conservation page.

Irish Water is working at this time, with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services. Irish Water would like to remind people to follow the HSE COVID-19 advice and ensure frequent handwashing.

Irish Water understands the inconvenience when a burst occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to repair the burst. Irish Water and Kildare County Council regrets any inconvenience caused.
