Crews working to restore water supply in Gurteen

24 August 2022

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Crews are on site in Gurteen, Co Galway this morning repairing a burst water main.

Uisce Éireann and Galway County Council are working to restore water as quickly as possible to customers served by the Mid Galway Public Supply.

Every effort is being made to maintain supply to as many customers as possible, but the burst is impacting customers in Gurteen, Kiltulla and Carrabane.

Repairs are expected to be complete by 3pm. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

Speaking about the repair works Rónan Daly, Uisce Éireann said: “The repairs in the Gurteen area are being conducted as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to the community and restore water for all customers."

We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate their patience as we work to repair the burst and return the water supply.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
