Crews working to restore water supply in Galway

Crews are on site at Circular Road, Westside Park in Galway this morning repairing a burst watermain.

Uisce Éireann and Galway City Council are working together to restore the water to the Salthill, Lower Knocknacarra and Claddagh areas as quickly as possible.

Every effort is being made to maintain supply to as many customers as possible, but the burst is impacting water supply to homes and business in the area. Some are experiencing a water outage while others have a low-pressure supply. 

Repairs are expected to be completed this evening. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

Speaking about the repair works Shay Walsh Uisce Éireann said: “The repairs on the burst watermain on Circular Road, Westside Park are being conducted as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to the community and restore water for all customers." 

“We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate their patience as we work to repair the burst and return the water supply.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
