Irish Water is working to end the unacceptable practice of discharging untreated wastewater into Casla Bay by developing a new wastewater treatment plant as part of the Carraroe Sewerage Scheme.

On Thursday 29 November 2018 Irish Water will publish the Public Notice for the Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) to acquire the necessary lands, and wayleaves at Knocksruffaunavana, Carraroe. The CPO will also be submitted to An Bord Pleanála.

Health, integrity of the environment and improved water quality for all in Carraroe

The practice of discharging untreated wastewater into Casla Bay is unacceptable. The new wastewater treatment plant will bring benefits to Carraroe in terms of health, integrity of the environment and improved water quality for all. Cleaner water will enhance Carraroe’s amenity value and act as a platform for social and economic development.

The new pipes, pumping station and wastewater treatment plant have all been sized to accommodate an increase in the local population and will facilitate future growth in the area. The project will also ensure that the water quality standards set down by regulatory bodies will be achieved.

The results of this wastewater investment can be seen in works carried out throughout Galway County in Kinvara, Clifden, Mutton Island, Claregalway, Milltown and also in Oughterard. Further works are planned for Spiddal, Roundstone, Glennamaddy, Ahascragh, Ballygar, and Mountbellew.

Pleananna Uisce Éireann ag dul chun cinn chun cosc a chur le amhchamras a scaoileadh ón gCeathrú Rua

Tá Uisce Éireann ag obair chun an cleachtas do-ghlactha um fuíolluisce neamhchóireáilte a scaoileadh isteach i gCuan Chasla a chosc trí ionad cóireála fuíolluisce nua a fhorbairt mar chuid de Scéim na Ceathrún Rua.

Ar an Déardaoin 29 Samhain 2018 foilseoidh Uisce Éireann an Fógra Poiblí don Ordú Ceannaigh Éigeantaigh chun na tailte riachtanacha agus cead slite ag Cnoc Shrutháin an Bheannaithe a fháil agus tá Uisce Éireann ag cur Ordú Ceannaigh Éigeantaigh isteach chuig an mBord Pleanála.

Níl an cleachtas fuíolluisce neamhchóireáilte a scaoileadh isteach i gCuan Chasla inghlactha. Tabharfaidh an gléasra cóireála fuíolluisce nua leasanna don Cheathrú Rua i dtéarmaí sláinte, ionrachais an chomhshaoil agus feabhas i gcáilíocht na huisce do gach duine.  Breiseoidh uisce níos glaine luach conláiste na Ceathrún Rua agus oibreoidh sé mar ardán d’fhorbairt eacnamaíoch agus sóisialta.

Tá na píobáin, stáisiún caidéalaithe agus an gléasra cóireála fuíolluisce nua arna dtoisiú ionas go mbeadh siad oiriúnach do mhéadú sa daonra áitiúil agus éascófar forbairt an cheantair dá bharr amach anseo.  Cinnteoidh an tionscadal freisin go mbainfear amach na caighdeáin cháilíochta uisce leagtha síos ag comhlachtaí rialaithe.

Is féidir torthaí na hinfheistíochta fuíolluisce seo a fheiceáil i bhfeidhm in oibreacha comhlíonta ar fud Co. na Gaillimhe, i gCinn Mhara, An Clochán, Oileán Caorach, Baile Chláir, Baile an Mhuilinn agus freisin in Uachtar Aird.  Tá oibreacha a thuilleadh arna bpleanáil don Spidéal, Cloch na Rón, Gleann na Madadh, Áth Eascrach, Baile Átha Ghártha agus don Chreagán.
