Following advice from the Health Service Executive, Irish Water wishes to advise all customers that the Boil Water Notice imposed on the 30 April on the Ballingate Water Supply Scheme, the Boil Water Notice imposed on the 2 May on the Aughrim Annacurra Water Supply Scheme and the Do Not Consume Note imposed on the 2 May on Kiltegan Water Supply Scheme are now lifted with immediate effect.

Normal use of the water supply can resume

Irish Water is now advising customers in these areas that the Health Service Executive (HSE) has approved the lifting of the Boil Water Notices and the Do Not Consume Notice and normal use of the water supply can resume for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.

A Boil Water Notice was issued on the Ballingate Water Supply Scheme due to the detection of coliform bacteria in the water supply. A Boil Water Notice was issued on the Aughrim Annacurra Water Supply Scheme due to the detection of Enterococci in the water supply. Irish Water working in partnership with Wicklow County Council consulted with the HSE to ensure that a safe and compliant supply of water was returned to customers as soon as possible. Following investigations Irish Water is satisfied that water quality within the supply areas is fully compliant with the Drinking Water Regulations and is of good quality.

Water within the supply is fully compliant with the Drinking Water Regulations

For customers served by the Kiltegan Water Supply Scheme normal use of the water supply can resume. Irish Water working in partnership with Wicklow County Council carried out a programme of work at the treatment plant and reservoir feeding the supply which was followed by a period of monitoring. Sampling undertaken recorded compliant results for Nitrate. Irish Water is satisfied that water within the supply is fully compliant with the Drinking Water Regulations and is of good quality.
