Boil Water Notice lifted for Avoca Ballinaclash Public Water Supply
News follows consultation with the Health Service Executive
Following consultation with the Health Service Executive, Irish Water and Wicklow County Council are pleased to confirm that the Boil Water Notice for the area supplied by the Avoca Ballinaclash Public Water Supply has been lifted following the results of drinking water quality tests.
Precautionary measure following failure in treatment process
The Boil Water Notice had been put in place as a precautionary measure following a failure in the treatment process which impacted on the UV disinfection treatment at the Water Treatment Plant serving the Avoca Ballinaclash Public Water Supply.
We completed a number of upgrades at the plant
Irish Water drinking water compliance, Asset Delivery and operational experts worked with colleagues in Wicklow County Council to resolve this situation as soon as possible. We have completed the installation of a number of upgrades at the plant to prevent this failure from happening again and to safeguard the future water supply for the area.
Verification works, including sampling, have been carried out
Verification works, including sampling, have been carried out and, following consultation with the HSE, the Boil Water Notice has now been lifted. We acknowledge the impact and inconvenience caused by this BWN to homes and businesses in the Avoca Ballinaclash area. We wish to thank the community for their patience and cooperation while we worked to resolve this issue.
