Boil Water Notice Lifted on Barndarrig Public Water Supply
Following consultation with the HSE, Irish Water and Wicklow County Council confirm that the Boil Water Notice that was in place on the Barndarrig Public Water Supply has been lifted. The chlorination system at the plant has been repaired and the water supply is safe to drink.
The Boil Water Notice was put in place as a precautionary measure, to protect approximately 191 people served by this supply following a mechanical failure of the chlorination system at the water treatment. The mechanical failure of chlorination system at Barndarrig WTP, namely freezing of sample line due to the extreme weather conditions, has been rectified. The water supply is compliant with drinking water regulations and normal use of the supply can resume for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.
Irish Water apologises for the inconvenience caused by the imposition of the boil water notice. We thank customer for their patience while we worked with Wicklow County Council and the HSE to lift the notice as quickly as possible.
