Bathing Water Notices lifted at Dollymount, Sandymount and Merrion Beaches
Samples confirmed that the bathing water was within the excellent water quality classification range.
Bathing water notices were lifted on Monday, 11 June at Dollymount, Sandymount and Merrion Beaches following sampling taken on the Friday, 8 June. All samples confirmed that the bathing water was within the excellent water quality classification range.
The bathing water notices were put in place following an incident on Tuesday, 5 June caused by the breakdown of a pump at the Spencer Dock Pumping Station and subsequent overflow at East Wall show that there was no impact on the bathing water quality.
Separately bathing prohibitions are in place for the entire 2018 bathing season at Sandymount and Merrion beaches due to general water quality, however, the Environmental Protection Agency have instructed Dublin City Council to continue to declare incidents at these beaches whenever they occur
Irish Water regrets the impact this may have on beach users. For further information please visit the EPA website beaches.ie
