Bathing water notice at Waterville beach has been lifted
Follows consultation with Kerry County Council's Environmental Department
Following consultation with Kerry County Council's Environmental Department, Irish Water wishes to advise that a precautionary bathing water notice at Waterville beach has now been lifted.
Kerry County Council confirmed that the precautionary bathing notice has been lifted following the completion of bathing water quality testing that was found to be fully compliant with the required standards.
The one-off overflow occurred following a period of thunder and heavy rainfall that caused a power failure at the pump station.
Repair of the pump station completed
Since the overflow occurred on Sunday 21 July, crews were on the ground maintaining the pump station and there have been no overflows from the pump station since then. A repair of the pump station was also completed successfully. Together with Kerry County Council we are continuing to monitor the operation of the pump station as we do with all public wastewater infrastructure.
