Bathing prohibition notice in place at Kilkee beach.
Notice put in place in conjunction with the Health Service Executive
Irish Water wishes to advise that a storm rising main in Kilkee, Co. Clare has burst causing the discharge of sewage to a watercourse which flows onto Kilkee beach. Clare County Council has spoken to the duty lifeguard and the Blue Flag beach has been closed with the red flag on display.
This notice remains in place pending sampling results of the bathing waters by Clare Council. It is hoped at this point that Clare Council in consultation with the HSE can remove the notice by early next week.
Notices are displayed at the beach and on the Environmental Protection Agency website www.beaches.ie advising the public of the restrictions. Irish Water regrets the impact this may have on beach users
