Irish Water is continuing to investigate the cause of the sudden change in the raw water quality that occurred in the raw water springs which supply the Water Treatment Plant in Ahascragh on Thursday night the 31st of March and lasted until Saturday the 2nd of April.
This sudden decrease in the raw water quality meant that the Water Treatment Plant in Ahascragh was no longer able to deliver fully compliant water and this has resulted in the boil water notice being issued.
Our investigations to date have shown that no pollution incidents from slurry or chemical services have occurred in the catchment area and we will continue to work with the HSE to come to a resolution as soon as possible.
In the meantime the boil water notice remains in place and customers are advised to continue boiling water as outlined in the notice.
