Increased demand has led to pressure on supplies

Increased seasonal demand on water supplies in the Roundstone area of Co, Galway has led to pressure problems for some customers in the area.

Irish Water, working in partnership with Galway County Council and local businesses, has agreed an action plan which will involve the turning off of a booster station from 12 noon to 6pm daily to help preserve water and ensure a continuous supply for the majority of customers during peak business hours.

This action will lead to increased water pressures for customers in the village of Roundstone during these times but it will mean that customers in areas surrounding the village may experience a reduction in pressure.

Irish Water and Galway County Council will monitor the situation over the coming weeks.

This follows on from leak detection work which was undertaken last week and some network reconfiguration work which was undertaken last weekend.

Irish Water is asking customers in the Roundstone area to be mindful of their water consumption during this busy summer period and to report any leaks they see on the public network by calling our customer care helpline which is open 24/7 on 1850 278 278.

Irish Water and Galway County Council would like to apologise to customers affected and ensure them that they are working hard to maintain a continuous supply of water for all customers.

Any member of the public who has a query in relation to their water supply can contact Irish Water directly on 1850 278 278.
