We know that these are challenging times for everyone. Please be assured that we are committed to supporting you as much as we can through this time of uncertainty. Our priority is the safety and well-being of our staff and our customers and we continue to follow HSE and Department of Health advice and guidance while delivering essential drinking water and wastewater services across Ireland.
Our goal is to make sure that water keeps flowing to your taps, toilets can be flushed and, most importantly, to help those who are vulnerable. If you are a business customer and your circumstances have changed, please contact us. Our Customer Care helpline is open and we are happy to help. Right now, our emergency crews and Local Authority partners are carrying out essential services such as fixing bursts and sewers, and clearing blockages. Activities are taking a little longer than usual and we are grateful for your understanding and support. We are continuing to monitor this situation very closely and our primary focus is to ensure our services are delivered to you safely and responsibly.

Reopening work premises safely
As COVID-19 restrictions are eased and businesses begin to re-open, there are a number of steps that you can take to help ensure your water and wastewater systems in your business are safe.
Vulnerable Customer Services
If you or any member of your family or friends are vulnerable, you can register yourself or someone else for our Vulnerable Customer Services. You can register online and also sign up to receive text message supply updates. If you would prefer to speak to a member of our Customer Care team, please contact us on 1800 278 278.
Helping to protect public health
We have taken a number of measures to protect public health and help
slow the spread of COVID-19:
- All main office buildings are closed to employees with the exception of essential operational workers
- Temporary remote working arrangements are in place for Irish Water employees
- Public reception desks are closed
- Only essential workers continue to visit our water & wastewater treatment plants
- All non-essential works have been temporarily halted

Our staff has been classified as providing essential services and our contact centre is currently operating as normal. We continue to follow government guidelines to make sure our staff and our customers stay safe and all our contact centre staff are working remotely from home.

Following the most recent government advice, we have stopped all non-essential home appointments and internal investigations. If you had a planned appointment that cannot take place, we will contact you to notify you of the change. The safety of our customers and staff continues to be a high priority. If we do need to enter your premises, we’ll follow guidelines on social distancing and work with you to ensure all works are carried out safely. We understand the impact that Covid-19 has had and continues to have on many businesses, and we recently deferred the introduction of new business charges to reduce this impact. We continue to bill for water services as many businesses continue to trade and our staff, in conjunction with our Local Authority partners, are ensuring the continuation of vital water and wastewater services nationally during the crisis.
